Tucson Joins Délice Network of Good Food Cities Around the World

Tucson, Arizona has been accepted as a member in the Délice Network, an international group of municipalities, city marketing agencies and tourism boards that have chosen to act on food and gastronomy to develop their economy, to boost their city's attractiveness, and to grow local well-being.

Destinations are selected by a vote of all Délice Network members. Only two cities per country are allowed into the network, which in the United States includes Chicago and now Tucson.

In an October 3, 2018 announcement, "Delice Network Welcomes 2 New Members," the city of Tucson and the province of Gaziantep in Turkey are named as the two newest members of the Délice Network -- both destinations are members of the UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) Creative Cities of Gastronomy. With these two new members, the Délice Network currently gathers 26 destinations on four continents, including Montreal, Madrid, Bordeaux, Brussels, Puebla, Hong Kong, Kobe and Lyon, to name a few.

"Diversity is the strength of Délice Network as each member city brings to the group their culture, their approach to food and gastronomy and their way of using their assets for the development of their city," the announcement states. "Tucson, the second-largest city of Arizona, gets its strength from its special geographical conditions and its location, close to the Mexican border. Food in Tucson is a way to create social bonds, to learn from each other and to build a strong community. The Tucson local organizations, led by Visit Tucson, work daily in promoting these great values."
