Join Exo Coffee Bar as they welcome Diana Pinzón of Mezcal Zinacantan and Valeria Cañedo of Centro de Colaboración para la Ciencia y Cultura to launch their Fondo Agavero project. This effort is a collaboration of these two women to bring together agave science and spirits production to create a series of seedbanks to protect a genetically diverse population of wild agave species throughout Mexico.
Diana and Valeria will present how they conceptualized this project, how it works, and how they look to involve people at all levels of the agave spirits community, from farmers to consumers. Please join us as we kick off this project with a fundraising brunch!
ABOUT FONDO AGAVERO
To combat the growing demand for agave spirits and the pressure it puts on Mexico’s wild agave populations, the Fondo Agavero was created to promote the study and responsible cultivation and use of agave seeds. Their goal is to integrate a system of management and reintroduction protocols to create an ecological model that can be replicated in rural communities throughout Mexico.
