Dr. Luis Eguiarte is the foremost expert on agave diversity, genetics and conservation in Mexico. A professor at the National Autonomous University of Mexico, he has accomplished field and laboratory research on wild and domesticated agaves and their close relatives for four decades. He and his wife Dr. Valeria Sosa have also complied ecological and taxonomic data on the largest desert oasis in North America at Cuatro Cienegas.
